KATHI DOAK reverse commutes from NYC to her Yarnista role at Sticks and Strings. A Sticks and Strings customer from our very first weeks Kathi looked forward to her days in the ‘burbs and has come to love the shop and the surrounding area. With the luxury of many options in her post-Time Inc. life, we feel very flattered that she’s joined us. Kathi grew up in Westport, CT an avid machine sewer of just about all her mini skirts and school clothes but, not a knitter. It was the move to a small NYC apartment that brought out the knitter. “I know,” said Kathi, “I’ll switch to knitting. It takes up only a basket’s width.” Ha! Now in larger quarters she finds herself completely overrun with stash (and her collection of antique knitting tools and postcards and photographs of women knitting!) Kathi is a small needle lover, Fair Isle fanatic, sock maven and is drawn to all things derived from natural fibers. When you meet Kathi, be sure to ask her about her extensive knitting travels!
